Assistant Professor Talha Köse of İstanbul Şehir University said the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) government stands by the promises to Alevis in Turkey.
On a TRT World program last week, Köse gave a quick recap of the relations between the government and the Alevi community.
After periods of ups and downs, the government managed to initiate an Alevi opening in 2010 and organized a total of seven workshops, said the professor.
In an attempt to fend off criticisms that the AK Party has turned more authoritarian and sectarian since the Gezi crisis and the Syrian conflict in particular, Davutoğlu met with prominent Alevi religious leaders and said that the government will deliver the promises in a couple of months, Köse added.
