The AK Party Loses Votes, Keeps the Title

Muhittin Ataman, the Deputy Director of the Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research (SETA), joining a debate on France 24 television tried to clear the dust away after Turkey’s general elections on June 7, 2015.

The election results were a surprise to many and Ataman is not an exception. The voters have given a strong message to the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), said SETA’s Deputy Director, but the AK Party still maintains its position as the number one political party in the Turkish Parliament.

As for President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, he has enough power to influence the political climate and will continue to do so, Ataman added.
