Ömer Şipal

Having graduated from Foreign Language Education from Boğaziçi Üniversitesi in 2012, Ömer Şipal currently is doing his master in Political Science and International Relations in Istanbul Sehir University. Concentrating on the modern İslamic movements in the Middle East, he is writing his thesis on “the decline of Muslim Brotherhood from the power, as a consequence of the coup d’etat, and its implicatons for and in the Middle East”. Among his research interests are political İslam, religion and politics, secularization and modernization, islamic political thought, modern İslamic movments in the Middle East. Besides these topics, he is interested in critical theory, post-structuralism, nationalism. He knows Kurdish, English, Arabic and Ottoman Turkish. Currently, he is working as an research assistant at the Foreign Policy Directorate.
