  • Due to the lack of global leadership and the increase of uncertainties and insecurity in the wake of the collapse of the bipolar world and the Soviet Union, many small and middle states began to restructure their foreign policy orientation. The intensification of global rivalry, the increase of unilateral intervention and the return of power politics have led small and middle states to diversify their foreign relations and form regional political and economic platforms to overcome global threats and challenges.
  • Türkiye will hold critical presidential and parliamentary elections on May 14. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the Justice and Development Party’s (AK Party) election manifesto almost one month before the elections on April 11. In addition, President Erdoğan has introduced his party’s campaign and candidate list for parliamentary elections. The title of the 31-point manifesto is “Right Steps for Century of Türkiye” and was adopted as the election campaign’s motto.
  • This analysis initially provides a basic scope for the Asia Anew Initiative, which has been followed with interest due to the fact that it has not yet published a policy document. Again, it examines the aims of Asia, its contributions to international politics, its differences from the strategies toward Asia produced by different actors, and its relationship with the basic dynamics of Turkish foreign policy. Secondly, it analyzes the strategic fit between the Asia Anew Initiative and the Turkish defense industry by examining the sector successes realized in parallel with the interest of the Turkish defense industry in the Southeast Asian region, which is one of the sub-regions focused on by the Asia Anew Initiative.
