From 2011 then on, the crisis in Syria has caused many Syrians to flee from their home and migrate within and outside Syria. During the process, Turkey is one of the countries affected the most considering its open door policy and thus hosting recently 3 million Syrians. One of the most crucial issues for Turkey, considering this amount of Syrian population, is inevitably education and employment of Syrians. In this manner, Turkey has taken the first step in 2012 , specifically for those living within the camps managed by AFAD. In 2013, Turkey issued a circular letter and it followed by the first comprehensive legal regulation in 2014 and standardized education for Syrians. However, on the other hand, the number of Syrian children schooled is still not sufficient compared to the total number of Syrian children at school age. According to Ministry of National Education February 2016 data, number of total children at school age is 834, 833. However 523,583 of these children are still out of school. Therefore, it is necessary to have a roadmap for educating Syrians. Our event aims to contribute to the subject of educating Syrian children in Turkey and in this manner the opportunities and challenges are going to be discussed. We would be honoured to have you at our event.
Note: Panel discussion will be held in English and Turkish. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided during the panel discussion.
