Turkey’s membership protocol to NATO was signed on 17 October 1951 and Turkey became a NATO member as the Law on the accession of Turkey to the North Atlantic Treaty was endorsed on 18 February 1952.  February 18, 2022 marks the 70^th anniversary of Turkey’s NATO membership.

For seven decades Turkey played a significant role as one of the most important partners of the Transatlantic security and Euro-Atlantic ties. In this regard, NATO has been one of the key pillars of Turkey’s defense and security.  Turkey contributed actively to the transformation of the most successful defense alliance in history. As a reliable member of the NATO, Turkey continues to contribute to crisis management, peacekeeping, peacebuilding and civilian missions of NATO as well.

SETA Foundation, ASBL Brussels, partnering with EU-Turkey Friendship Group would like to commemorate this important day with a small reception and a panel with our friends and experts.

The event will be in hybrid format. There will be a short virtual conference in the beginning and the rest of the panel will proceed physically at SETA, ASBL
