Libya’s recent military cooperation agreement with Turkey ended Haftar’s advance towards the capital Tripoli. The Libyan army liberated many areas such as Al-Watiya airbase and Tarhuna district. In addition to this development, GNA forces launched an operation to capture Sirte, Jufra and towns in Wadi Wishka, Buerat, Jarif and Qasr Abu Haid from warlord Haftar's forces. In order to discuss in detail these recent developments, SETA Brussels is organizing a panel on recent developments in Libya with the title of “What’s next in Libya?”. The panel will draw attention to the ongoing conflict between the U.N.-recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) and warlord Gen. Haftar’s Libyan National Army (LNA).
Enes Bayraklı, coordinator of the SETA Brussels Office will lead the panel. The panelists will be Talha Köse, associate professor at Ibn Khaldun University, Celal Harchaoui, research fellow in Clingendael Institute, Anas El Gomati, Director of the Tripoli-based Sadeq Institute and Ahmed Sewehli, pro-democracy activist.
The web-panel discussion will be held in English and will be livestreamed and shared via SETA’s social media accounts on Tuesday, June 16th at the local times of Ankara 21.00, Brussels 20.00, Washington 16.00.
We would be honored to be joined by you at the event.
