2015 was a bad year for Muslims living in Europe. Throughout the year, enmity towards Muslims escalated. The rage against Muslims in the aftermath of the Paris attacks and the impact of heated discussions over the “Refugee Crisis in Europe” have caused European Muslims to suffer from aggression, denigration, and neglect.

The “Europe Islamophobia Report” that has been released in 2016 will become a yearly publication. The report sheds light scantily on the aforementioned hostility towards Muslims in Europe. The editors of the report Dr. Farid Hafez of the University of Salzburg and Associate Professor Enes Bayraklı as the Director of European Studies at SETA-İstanbul, coordinate the research conducted by a team of 35 researchers in 25 European countries.

The Europe Islamophobia Report which has been shared with the international public in Ankara, Brussels, and Washington D.C. will be discussed in Vienna in the light of the latest developments in Europe in general and in Austria in specific. The results of the research will be mulled over in detail with the cooperation of Haus der Europäischen Union (The European Union Foreign Mission in Vienna) and Europe Direct Wien (The European Commission Information Network), and this emphasizes the significance of the subject matter.
