Zeynep Esra Abay Çelik works as a Researcher at SETA.
Biography
She earned her bachelor's degree (2005), master's degree ("The Impact of Violent News Bulletins on Children" - 2007), and doctorate ("Representation of Family in Turkish Cinema After 1960 in the Context of Modernization" - 2017) in Journalism and Communication Studies at the University of Vienna. During her time in Austria, she held various positions in non-governmental organizations. In 2009, she pioneered a new business field within an international company to provide employment opportunities for immigrant Turkish women, a highly successful initiative that secured her annual top-three rankings in Austria and in the company's global performance lists.
After completing her doctorate, she returned to Türkiye and began her academic career as an Assistant Professor in 2019 at the Medical Promotion and Marketing Program of Hamidiye Vocational School of Health Services, University of Health Sciences. She was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2024.
Abay Çelik has edited several books, including Communication Skills of Health Professionals (2023), Professions and Communication (2023), and Children and Communication (2023). As a member of the Yeşilay (Turkish Green Crescent Society) Scientific Board, her research and teaching interests focus on family, children, media, internet addiction, digital culture, family communication, personal development, interpersonal communication, professional communication, health communication, and consumer behavior.
