Latin American and Caribbean Perspectives on U.N. Reform | An Agenda

This analysis examines the main contributions of Latin America and the Caribbean to the United Nations system and the position of the Latin American countries on the proposals to change and reform the United Nations Security Council.

Even if Latin America is becoming strategically more irrelevant, it is still a central actor in global governance and a key partner in the development of multilateralism for the United Nations system. From the early U.N. days until now, the LAC has advanced a progressive agenda fostering global stability by advancing a peaceful approach to international security and pushing developmental cooperation both in the North-South and South-South directions. This analysis examines the main contributions of Latin America and the Caribbean to the United Nations system and the position of the Latin American countries on the proposals to change and reform the United Nations Security Council.
