The arrival of U.S. F-16s in Turkey has been called a “game changer” not only in the fight against ISIS but also in reshaping the Middle East, Syria and Iraq in particular.

Perhaps the opening of the U.S. air base in İncirlik makes Turkey more vulnerable to threats, but it would have been some other risks somehow if not ISIS, said Talha Köse, an assistant Professor of International Relations at İstanbul Şehir University who joined TRTWorld News on August 14, 2015 to share his views on the latest developments.

According to the professor, some international actors are disturbed by the renewal of vows between Turkey and the U.S.; so they support the PKK, ISIS and even the pro-Assad, pro-Baathist leftist DHKP-C inside the country. “I think this is a very much coordinated effort,” Köse added.
