The PKK is not an Independent Non-state Actor

“The PKK, or the Kurdish question, is an international issue… It is playing with other actors, cooperating with other actors.”

SETA-Ankara hosted a panel titled “Violent Non-State Actors from Anarchists to Jihadists” on February 10, 2015.

Upon a question of whether or not the PKK is a perfect violent non-state actor, Associate Professor Aydınlı asserted at the SETA-Ankara panel that the PKK is not even an independent problem anymore, “The PKK, or the Kurdish question, is an international issue… It is playing with other actors, cooperating with other actors. So, I don’t think it can act independent… Think about the Kobani issue. Some people think that it became a strategic partner with other actors already.”
