A suicide bomber linked with DAESH (ISIS) killed 10 people in İstanbul on January 12, 2016.
As Turkey continues to fight the militant group, the attack in İstanbul came one day after the international coalition stepped up operations to cut off DAESH supply routes completely.
The respond to the attack must be more cooperation between Turkey and the international community.
Enes Bayraklı, a political researcher of SETA think-tank, said: “There should be more cooperation in the international community, especially intelligence sharing. This attack also has a double message: It is to Germany, which has increased military involvement in Syria recently, and to Turkey. These attacks can only be prevented through intelligence sharing.”
In addition, tourism industry is important, especially in İstanbul. “Terrorism might struck anywhere in the world and Turkey is still a safe place for foreigners and tourists,” Bayraklı added.
According to Bayraklı, DAESH is choosing its targets really carefully. With the previous attack, its militants targeted leftist and Kurdish groups because they wanted a civil unrest in Turkey. After that, the attacks in Paris came and many attempts followed in Germany. Also, there is an intense debate about the future of Syrian refugees and Muslims in Germany. So, DAESH (ISIS) attempts to provoke Islamophobia in Germany.
