FETO, which carried out a bloody coup attempt in Turkey on July 15, 2016, began spreading its activities across Europe expeditiously from this date forward. Businessmen, bureaucrats and soldiers, in particular, who participated in the coup attempt have fled to various European countries and, as a result, many European countries such as Germany, Austria and Belgium have become safe havens for FETO members. These countries are not cooperating with Turkey in the fight against terrorism; to the contrary, they are providing an environment where FETO members are able to move freely and continue their anti-Turkey activities. In this context, on July 14, 2017, SETA European Researches will organize a panel entitled “Gulenist Terror Network in Europe.” The event will serve to draw attention to FETO’s settlement and activities in various European countries. What activities is FETO carrying out in European countries such as Germany, Belgium, and Austria? How is FETO’s European network of education, media and politics interconnected? What are the sources of income for this secretive organization in Europe?  What are the policies of European countries towards FETO before and after July 15? The answer to these and many other questions will be discussed at the panel.

Speakers at the event will include Enes Bayraklı, Directorate of European Studies at SETA, Ozan Ceyhun, former Member of European Parliament (MEP), and Kemal İnat, lecturer at Sakarya University. The panel will be moderated by Veysel Kurt, researcher at Strategic Studies at SETA. Simultaneous English translation will be offered.
