Security and Economic Development in Turkey and the Republic of Korea: Past Experiences and Current Issues
Turkey and the Republic of Korea have been going through similar processes since the 1950s in terms of economic, political and security issues. On paper, both countries tried to implement first import substitution industrialization policies and then export-based growth model in similar periods. However different experiences in policy implementation, along with changing political and regional conditions, have led to economic performance gap between two countries. In their economic development processes these two countries have faced various geopolitical and security based problems.
It is valuable in many respects to compare the experiences of these two countries and to identify potential areas of cooperation. To contribute to this purpose, the Republic of Korea Consul General in Istanbul and the SETA Foundation are organizing a joint event on Wednesday (December 18th) titled “Security and Economic Development in Turkey and the Republic of Korea: Past Experiences and Current Issues”.
We would be honoured to be joined by you at this comprehensive event, where the historical, structural and regional issues of the two countries will be discussed by expert researchers.
The event will be held in English with Turkish translation.
