After Turkey declared her imminent military operation towards east of the Euphrates, during the phone call between president Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US president Donald Trump, the US president decided to withdraw from Syria and declared it to the public. Due to the US decision, Turkey postponed its military operation, both states started to organize high level meeting in order to coordinate the withdrawal process. Later on, a safe zone in northern Syria came into the discussions. While it remain uncertain how this safe zone will be established and by whom, the US declared to withdraw all troops from Syria but 200 soldiers. On the other side, the US withdrawal decision is important for Russia, Iran, the Assad regime and the Syrian opposition. What does this withdrawal mean for Iran, one of the most active regional actors in Syria? How does the Syrian opposition and the Syrian people see the US withdrawal from Syria? What are Turkey’s goals and concerns? How are the negotiations between Turkey and the US going on, and how does the internal US power balances affect the US withdrawal process?
