In cooperation with the European Union, SETA Foundation and Leopold Weiss Institute released the “European Islamophobia Report (EIR) 2018” in September 2019. While many surveys already point out the growing danger of right-wing terrorism, none of them mentions the anti-Muslim ideological framework working behind this trend. The EIR 2018 aims at filling this gap by analyzing how the banalization of Islamophobic discourse in the European public sphere paves the way for violent actions against Muslim and their institutions.

In this direction SETA will organize a panel titled “Presentation of the European Islamophobia Report 2018” in Berlin. Drawing on the EIR 2018, the event will shed light on the rising levels of Islamophobia in European countries. Additionally, the panel seeks to address the issue of tackling this growing phenomenon. Enes Bayraklı, the coordinator of SETA Brussels Office and co-editor of the EIR, will moderate the discussion in company of the author of Austria country report Farid Hafez (Georgetown University Bridge Initiative), author of Kosovo county report Adem Ferizaj (independent researcher) and author of Czech Republic country report Selma Muhic Dizdarevic (Czech Helsinki Committee).

We would be honored to be joined by you at the event.
