Turkish-American relations have been going through serious challenges over the past few years. The two NATO allies have clashed over their approach to the Syrian crisis and how to fight against DAESH terrorism. The US support for the YPG, the Syrian branch of the PKK has been a major spoiler for the relations. They are also at odds over Turkey’s air defense missile purchase from Russia as the US policy makers have been threatening sanctions against Turkey. Amidst a series of strategic and security issues, President Erdogan has a “very good” relationship with President Trump as the US president put it. As both presidents seem committed to resolving outstanding issues, the SETA Foundation is pleased to host a panel discussion to explore how these two NATO allies can move forward and strengthen their relationship.
