Kalin: “Anti-Muslim Rhetoric Only Serves DAESH”

Anti-Muslim racism is spreading and becoming a tool of antagonist politics, sensational journalism and religious exclusivism across Europe, shows the latest European Islamophobia Report

Ibrahim Kalin, in his latest opinion for Daily Sabah entitled “Anti-Muslim Rhetoric only Serves DAESH,” analysed the threefold lessons that should be drawn after the latest terrorist attacks in Turkey and Brussels. First of all, Kalın stated that there is a need to revise the anti-Daesh strategy and secondly he stressed the fact that “regardless of ethnic, religious or political motives, terrorism is terrorism everywhere,” asserting that there is no reason to treat DAESH and PKK differently.

More importantly, Ibrahim Kalın focuses on the anti-Muslim rhetoric. In this regard he mentions  one of the main points presented in the recently published European Islamophobia Report by the Foundation for Political Economic and Social Research (SETA) which shows that anti-Muslim racism is spreading and becoming a tool of antagonist politics, sensational journalism and religious exclusivism across Europe.
